Official Email Services
The only official student email service on all Rutgers campuses is the ScarletMail component of ScarletApps. ScarletApps is part of the Google Apps for Education service. As part of the migration of campus-based faculty and staff email to Rutgers Connect, ScarletMail is also now the official Rutgers email service for retirees.
As of June 30, 2016 all email services at Rutgers-Camden for current faculty and staff have migrated to a system called Rutgers Connect. Rutgers Connect is the new central email, calendar, and cloud service system that is consolidating all university email systems for faculty and staff. If Rutgers Connect will not accept your password, but other Rutgers online services do accept your password, then you may need to change your password. Rutgers Connect can only synchronize with passwords that were changed after January 2016. If you haven’t changed your password since that date, and you’ve been migrated to Rutgers Connect, then you’ll need to change your password now. Visit the netid.rutgers.edu site to change your password. Rutgers Connect will synchronize with your new password approximately 30 minutes after you change it.
You can also use the NetID web tools at netid.rutgers.edu to create or modify a custom email address in the @rutgers.edu mail domain. The custom @rutgers.edu email address is not directly connected to a mailbox, it is simply an alias that must forward mail to another address that is directly connected to a mailbox. When you are configuring your custom @rutgers.edu email address you will see an area to enter one or more delivery addresses. The delivery address should be an email address that is directly connected to a mailbox. Every mailbox has at least one address directly connected to it. Supported Email Programs
The default method for accessing email on ScarletMail and on Rutgers Connect is via the web interface. Other supported methods are described in the ScarletMail FAQ under the section EMAIL & MOBILE. While not recommended, other methods for accessing email on Rutgers Connect are described on the Rutgers Connect Guides page.
Please note that accounts that are migrated to Rutgers Connect will no longer be able to send or receive email through crab or camlink. Your old email will be held for a period of time, so that any issues related to message transfers can be resolved, but you will not be able to actively use your crab or camlink account after migration.
